Fletchers Group Buys Scott Rees & Co Solicitors

The North West medical negligence and personal injury law firm Fletchers Group has acquired Scott Rees & Co Solicitors based in Newton-le-Willows.

Founded in 1992 Scott Rees & Co specialises in employers’ and public liability claims, fatal accident claims and clinical negligence which are very much in synergy with Fletchers.

The firm had a conveyancing department until 2024 but closed it down following continued turbulence in the conveyancing sector.

The terms of the Scott Rees & Co purchase were not disclosed but it is understood that 97 fee earners from the Scott Rees personal injury and clinical negligence teams will be brought over to Fletchers ever expanding business.

The acquisition follows a similar deal by Fletchers which saw it acquire Manchester based, Serious Injury Law in February 2024.

It has been previously mentioned by Fletchers Group thats its future growth plans are to continue its ‘buy and build’ strategy, which will see it acquire other firms in the personal injury market.

However, Fletchers Group isnt just buying up similarly focused law firms.

The business paid £32m to buy a lead generator for the legal sector, in a sign of the financial might that the growing Fletchers is able to exert.

Fletchers bought its 100% stake in case acquisition specialist MMA Management (trading as Blume Group) for £31.95m in November 2022. Peter Haden, chief executive of Fletchers Group, said at the time that the deal created ‘the UK’s leading medical negligence customer acquisition specialists’.

Acquisition financing with Pemberton Asset Management is in place to facilitate the ambitious growth plans of Fletchers, in addition to the continued backing of private equity owner Sun European Partners, which will no doubt create further headroom for future acquisitions.

Sun European Partners is the European arm to global private equity firm Sun Capital Partners, Inc and has a diverse European portfolio including leading global packaging firm Coveris, K3 Capital, leading European fine chemicals manufacturer ESIM and Anderson Global.

Commenting on the recent acquisition of Scott Rees & Co Solicitors, Peter Haden, chief executive of Fletchers Group commented, “Our team is keen to talk to owners of personal injury and clinical negligence law firms who are attracted by the opportunity to join a successful growth-oriented law practice with a great working culture and the right core values, to further our mission to rebuild people’s lives after they’ve suffered serious, life changing injuries.”
